Aligning Reference Architectures, Open Platforms and Large-Scale Pilots in Digitising European Industry

The digital transformation strategy of the European Union has, among others, a particular priority: the creation of common data platforms based on a unified architecture and an established standard. As part of the Horizon 2020 programme, the OPEN DEI project focuses on “Platforms and Pilots” to support the implementation of next generation digital platforms in four basic industrial domains:

Objectives

OPEN DEI strives to implement four action lines:

Platform building

Comparing reference architectures and open source reference implementations, enabling a unified industrial data platform

Data-Powered Business Ecosystem

TF2 supports OPEN DEI in the building of a Data-Powered Business Ecosystem, with the aim of scaling-up the created data ecosystem around the use cases and digital platform from the projects, detecting which are their commonalities and including more stakeholders, extending scale and complexity of data value chains and uses cases, in order to generate more value in the developed key data value chains and distribute it by defining strategies and business models. Based on some ground principles, data sharing ecosystem shall create strong bonds between EU-born digital assets and parties, including also SMEs, which should be engaged by pan-EU DIHs. The activities will be organized along two different iterations.

Iteration 1 aims at defining strategies to build data-driven business ecosystem, gathering lessons learned, methodologies and good practices shared across the ecosystem projects. Iteration 2 aims to generate, implement and validate guidelines to develop intra and cross domain data sharing ecosystem to generate data marketplaces and enable data value chains.
